Frequently asked questions

Are these coming soon templates really free?
Yes. Every template here is free to download. Templates under the MIT license can be used for any site, including client work, as long as you keep the license file. Templates under CC BY 3.0 (HTML5 UP) are free for commercial use if you credit the maker.
Do I need to know how to code?
You need to be comfortable editing HTML text and swapping images. If you are not, a website builder may suit you better. Our guide template, website builder or designer? helps you decide.
Can I see a template on my phone before I download it?
Yes. Every template page shows a phone screenshot, and templates with a live preview let you switch between desktop, tablet and phone sizes.
Which template should I pick?
Start with the one whose layout matches the pages you need, not the one with the prettiest photos, because you will replace the photos. Our template finder suggests three in under a minute.
