Whichever template you choose, make sure your site has these. Tick them off as you go; your ticks are saved on this device.
Tip: Export web images at around 2000 pixels on the long side and compress them. Huge originals make galleries crawl on phones.
Frequently asked questions
Are these photography templates really free?
Yes. Every template here is free to download. Templates under the MIT license can be used for any site, including client work, as long as you keep the license file. Templates under CC BY 3.0 (HTML5 UP) are free for commercial use if you credit the maker.
Do I need to know how to code?
You need to be comfortable editing HTML text and swapping images. If you are not, a website builder may suit you better. Our guide template, website builder or designer? helps you decide.
Can I see a template on my phone before I download it?
Yes. Every template page shows a phone screenshot, and templates with a live preview let you switch between desktop, tablet and phone sizes.
Which template should I pick?
Start with the one whose layout matches the pages you need, not the one with the prettiest photos, because you will replace the photos. Our template finder suggests three in under a minute.
